Is There Some Reason We Need War?

with 21 comments

Honestly, I can’t think of a good reason for this kind of organized idiotic behavior.  I can see why there are wars, governments start them by invading or otherwise attacking another country.  Leaders start wars even within a country because they want power.  Power is the main reason behind war.  Some people want to control other people.  Look at Hitler.  He wanted to control everybody, so he went on the attack.  How such a deranged person managed to convince millions of people to follow his orders is a mystery.  No reasonable person thinks war is good.

Politicians are the main reason there are wars in the world.  Politicians are people who want to lead and control other people.  Look at the Black Sabbath song “War Pigs.”  Even a person with drug-induced brain damage like Ozzy Osborn can see that it’s governments who orchestrate war.  Why do people tolerate such violence from their leaders when it would not be tolerated on a personal level from the man in the street?  We lock up and execute people who kill other people in society.  There are laws against murder.  Why is there not a law against war?

The earth is divided up into many different countries, each with a set of politicians in control.  When leaders have disagreements, they send their peons, armed to the teeth, to settle things.  There needs to be some means of international control in this world.  There should be some binding law that governs the behavior of governments.  If one country attacks another, the rest of the world should jump on them and put the leaders of the country who tried to start a war in jail.  Do we live in a civilized world, or on a lawless planet?

The twentieth century was the bloodiest period in the whole history of the earth.  The world wars and the conflicts were all caused by governments, sometimes by a single person in power.  When will the people of the world wake up and refuse to let governments order them to commit antisocial acts?  War is shameful and ridiculous.  Now that the scientists have given us nuclear weapons, it is also suicidal.  War is a symptom of the collective insanity of humanity.  There is no sane reason to stockpile weapons and raise armies.  The people of the world do not have to kill each other off to save resources.  When will the world heal itself and realize that cooperation is better than competition?

People are brainwashed to be violent from an early age.  Television is mostly one long stream of violent programming.  Even kids shows like Power Rangers are about fighting.  I grew up watching Bugs Bunny.  Those cartoons were always dropping anvils on each other and shooting each other’s faces off.  What kind of society do we live in where depictions of murder and violence are entertainment?  It goes far back in history.  The Romans had their arenas, we have our video games.  The mass media brainwashes people into becoming pawns for the government.  Literature is all about getting people to think like killers.  Look at the Illiad, the first epic of Western literature.  It’s a bloody, gory poem about a stupid, pointless war instigated by one person.  This is good?  Brainwashing.

In the modern world where any two people can find some way to communicate with each other over continually evolving computer networks there is no reason to have violent conflict.  The world needs to get its act together and reform from its demented ways.  All people need food, water, air and shelter.  We do not need guns, tanks, bombs, warships, and idiotic politicians telling us to kill people because they are different from us.  They are not different.  We are all humans and need to get along.

  2. Ummm…just a thought, would you rather the government do nothing and just let another event like 9/11 happen? Would you rather them come over here with their own power hungry leaders? My personal opinion i would rather see that those people will not have died in vain. If we do nothing then we are basically telling them ‘hey its alright no biggie!’ but im sorry i think its a major ‘biggie’ you may not support the war but i do. No i dont support the government leaders cause i honestly dont think they care they just want to get re-elected so they will either support the war or bash it depending on their own views. Hell give me a gun and i will show them whos boss!

    • that is exactly what they did yes: they let 9 11 happen. with the most advanced intelligence service in the world, the best military devices, they managed to stand still and wait for the other planes to hit the other buildings.

    • Wake up. 9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB orchestrated by the govt as a pretext to invading third world countries and setting up permanent bases there to make sure they continue trading with the PETRO DOLLAR.
This is something we are never told by the corporate lying media which is privately owned and serve as nothing more than lackeys for the industrial military cabal. The concept of FALSE FLAG ops are nothing new, just look back at history. Both world wars were orchestrated by the banksters in Wall Street and Westminster over false flag terrorism such as the sinking of the Lucitania and Pearl Harbour which was orchestrated by Churchill and Roosevelt to get us into Europe fighting the Nazis they had bankrolled! The Gulf of Tonkin ‘attack’ on the US ship there was a non event, but still the brainwashed sheep bought the propaganda and sent 50,000 troops to Vietnam to fight and die for opium. Now we have destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan over LIES. Who benefits from war?. Why, the Elites of course! War is a racket and it makes billions for the ARMS 4 DRUGS & OIL industries these evil men control. To these ‘people’, peace is just not viable because peace doesn’t make money, mass killing on a global scale does and it will never stop until we wake up, switch the tv propaganda machine off, stop buying their newspapers and learn the truth: this world is in the hands of BIG BUSINESS CORPORATE MAFIA and they have their lackeys and secret service agents on very level who will kill the good guys to ensure this corrupt fed reserve system of fraudulent banking, money laundering and treason based on the PETRO DOLLAR continues. Wars make the rich richer and the poor poorer. The only way to end this primitive cycle of subservience to them is to put down our arms and stop killing each other! They are cowards and get others to do their fighting. Trouble is the sheep are still asleep and believe what they are told. Like Joseph Goebels, Hitler’s chief of propaganda said
“The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it!”. More than 80yrs on it still works sadly.

  3. I’m sick of the people that are constantly making comments regarding ADF and its members. You make us feel like murderers for doing our job.. Protecting our nation our boarders our people. If Au ever is attacked, shall i send the invaders to u??? Would u like us to sit back and say we dont need to fight, use our guns, our tanks, use violence? Gosh, really u should be thanking us, we are the ones that will keep u safe!

    • Amen! Thank you for those who fight.
Back to the question. Is war always pretty. Hello no. But it is needed. Human nature pretty much demands it. With the worlds large population and limited amount of supplies it is needed. Also we need it to protect our loved ones. You can not imagine the horror they go through. Also just a thought but war helps social tensions

  4. Despite any argument it is true that the human race as a hole needs war it does not like it nor does it want it but, it needs it. The leader lust for power the top dogs want a prize but it’s the soldiers that need the war. The answer is simple yet complex it’s that the human race is a violent race when we were evolving the caveman loved the hunt the thrill of the kill, is the middle ages we could not go 100 years without some kind of few and until now the most peaceful time in human history we edge for a war in middle eastern countries. Why is the question and the answers is the same we need war to show us that we are strong that we can win of course this is only true on one side of the table but the message stays the same. We need war because the human race is bored.

This may be a inadequate answer for you but look around video games violent movies there are even TV shows devoted to war and fighting. So these are but subtle substitutes for wars but they can not last people get tired of that and they need the real thing, I’m Canadian one of the most peaceful countries in the world if not the most. However if we have joined the Irac campaign why we have no reason to be there we are barely helping the US but what we are doing is giving some young men brave young men so relief fire a gun feel the potential and you will see that you will want to shoot it again combine that with boredom and the love of ones country and a cause to protect it and there you have a man or woman whose ready for a war. Have a group of them and there’s your army

  6. Even though many think that with 9/11 we have to protect the world from the bad guys, waging wars on other countries isn’t the answer. When will it stop? Of course people dying in any terrorism act is a tragedy that should never have happened, but us “going to show them who’s boss” isn’t going to help anything.

If we go and terrorize the terrorists in their homeland (and by chance many other people who happen to be innocent), are we any better than them? Even if they “wronged” us first, what good will instilling more fear, intimidation and hate do? How can someone honestly think that this course of action will benefit us?

  7. I want to remember our veterans, but I don’t want to add to the list. Now that we have so much international communication, I agree that we don’t need war. The police protect on a local/ national level, and as long as we have understanding with governments of other countries, no one else can make an army big enough to be a threat. We have learned from the past mistakes right? We have agreed to disagree, but on the whole, the collection of people won’t ever again be manipulated into believing that murder is right. In Afghanistan, unfortunately many people have been killed in friendly fire. Maybe we just have too many weapons, and not enough problems that weapons will solve. From a peace maker position, I think that fighting back, hurting innocent people is not the answer. A strong defense, protection for the countries that the armies belong to, protection for the innocent people whose rights they are tying to save, is the answer. Perhaps, to satisfy people who don’t like the “Hit my face and I’ll turn the other cheek” method, lash out at the leaders, the people deciding to lead their people to do inhumane things, whoever stands and agrees with them. It isn’t that simple, but nothing, not even the problems that have been solved, is.
I’m not an expert, but I know that innocent people have been, and are being killed, and with so much knowledge, technology, media, and brave people, they don’t have to be.

  8. War is the only means when you have exhausted every diplomatic solution. When you have a crazed leader in a country that either laughs in your face when you send in a peace envoy or outright kills them what do you do? Tell them all you need is peace and love? As much as I like to believe that not all humans are evil or bad you will always have a few that are. Also they cynical side of me learned that not all wars are started for power but also for land, money, and resources.

  9. Have you guys heard the saying 2 wrongs don’t make a right? War begets war. You don’t “solve” problems by killing people. It’s like saying I punch someone and so him punching me will make the situation better. That’s not true at all.

However, If a country is attacked it should definitely have the chance to defend itself. But there should be rules and regulations as how that is done.

For instance, the U.S. should NOT have been able to invade Iraq. Who said this was okay? Just because we don’t agree with what is going on in Iraq doesn’t mean we can invade and fuel a fire that caused over 100,000 deaths.

When 9/11 occurred, it was an attack. So the U.S. should’ve defended itself in a way that Israel does. It should’ve devised a plan to secretly secure and detain people that we thought were responsible for the attack. The entire country of Iraq was NOT responsible for 9/11. Just a select few people.

Politicians are people, and people in general, are as this artical said, “brainwashed” into thinking the war is okay. Tell me, why is a 4000 year old idea still practiced today? Of all things we do, why is war the only one that has STAYED? Does that make any sense?

Unless people start thinking differently, we are doomed. We need to start educating new generations about the tragedies of war. Growing up, I was never taught that war was bad. I was taught that it was a necessity. How sick and maniacal of an idea is that?

Creating weapons that kill people do nothing but kill people. We need diplomacy, not war. If war is truly the last option, then it would never happen, because in diplomacy, just as in life, there is always another choice to be made.

    • I appreciate your comment Jason. So many people in this world just do as they are told by the government and never question orders. Why is it that murder is illegal, but if some politician says “go murder people in a foreign country” nobody prosecutes the politician? There is no effective court system for the leaders of countries and no law that makes wars and acts of violence illegal on a worldwide scale. The world is divided up into separate countries, all with their own internal laws, and no laws protect countries from each other. People still think leaders have some right to kill people despite the fact that ordinary people are supposed to obey laws that preserve civil order. The United Nations is a start, but they have no authority to do anything about war aside from try to pick up the pieces after violence breaks out.

The world needs to look at its systems of government and come up with some way to hold leaders of nations accountable for their actions. In America, Congress is supposed to have the power to wage wars, but the presidency has usurped that power since the War Powers Act was passed back in the 1950s era. The effect is that America is basically no different than a dictatorship when it comes to starting wars. One man has the power to kill who knows how many people for whatever reason he thinks fit, and he is not held accountable for the deaths of people who die in these wars.

The problem is made worse by a popular media that glorifies war and death. How many movies have been made about war and violence? What is shown in the news many times every day? History is nothing but the recounting of war and violence perpetrated by governments that are immune by law to being prosecuted for their crimes. We have television series about the glorious American Civil War, perhaps the first example of a modern total war, that devastated this country. The media brainwashes the general population to believe that a state of war is necessary and glorious. You can not control a population unless you keep them in fear, and war and violence provide that fear. War is how governments control the people of the earth.

  10. i can answer this from a christian point of view

    SIN!
it makes us hate, hate make war
in the bible it says war is necisary to destroy evil
HOWEVER if the war itself produces more evil then what its saving then the war is sin
and it must be defence and never strike first
anyway thats a christians point of view

and i agree with some of what your saying but not all people in power want power
the great man Winton churchill was prime minister of england not because it was a big plan to make power
but because no one else would
war in some cases brings out the very best in people
in Australia i often hear storys about such heros like winston churchill and simpson and his donkey (PS its a good story)
    i do not suppout war
i do not support generals loungin round doin nothin
i do not support violence against civilians of ANY kind
i support however the soldiers fighting war for a better world

  11. War is Hell (on Earth)!

I’ve had many discussions with my father about the necessity of war. He was in the army and his main reason was that it was needed because a country’s borders must be protected – basically a land ownership idea. My rebuttal was that discussion by the leaders of the borders should come to some kind agreement regarding the border issue. A give or take of a mile or two in one direction or another is not that big of an issue to start killing 100′s or 1000′s (or 100′s of 1000′s) of people. It’s only when leaders want too much land or the elimination of a whole country – which is totally unreasonable – that war is waged. Nowadays we don’t need war or large armies to carry them out if our leaders can be reasonable and live by the Golden Rule (Do unto others…). We need to use our minds and be reasonable ourselves – and be aware of when our leaders aren’t being reasonable. When that happens – the leaders need to be incarcerated and counseled – and new more reasonable leaders need to be chosen.

Unfortunately, in america, the need for more money trumps the need for more reasonableness. The military-industrial-complex makes sure our “leaders” are bought and paid for to continue making more weapons for more war – and MORE PROFIT! I could go on – but you see the point. $$$$$$$$

    Time for quotes:

The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations.

    David Friedman
    ====================================================================================

Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind.

    John F Kennedy

Do we really NEED war? No! HELL NO! Do the research – Feel more love and compassion for yourself AND your fellow HUMAN – Search your feelings – your heart – your soul (while you still have one) – then make up your mind and take a stand – on the higher ground of reason and peace – instead of the pungent primitive pathology of the past.

  12. Its not politicians that start wars its the banksters that own the govt that do.
Don’t just look at the fruiting bodies, look deeper and you will discover a most wicked and covert network of secret societies and services going back hundreds of yes, working against us to create a New World Order.
Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Hussein, Gaddafi etc were all bankrolled by the Anglo American corporate fascists in Wall Street and Westminster who have made trillions from arms, drugs and oil. They are all lying snakes that continue to create propaganda about any leader they want to subvert in order to steal their resources or in Hitlers case to win sympathy for the creation of Israel, their lynchpin in waging wars without end in the middles east for the hegemony of all earths resources.
They did 911 and 77 and continue to do FALSE FLAGS the sheeple believe is committed by ‘radicals’ or Islamic extremists’ when they are behind it! They are using Islam to destroy society and implement a full fascist surveillance police state.
The sheeple are too distracted and asleep and believe what they are told. They are too stupid to work out that the media is totally owned by them which is why you never get the facts, just endless lies from the snakes in power.
But their power depends on a dumb and ignorant public who are too eager to fight and die in their pointless wars for profit. If the sheep woke up and discovered who their enemy was, this would all stop but too few are awake and dismiss all this as ‘conspiracy theory’ or ‘conjecture’ because they have been brainwashed by the media to. Others know but suffer from COGNITIVE DISSONANCE to do anything about it.

  14. People don’t go to war; governments with $ and resources do. Governments with $ and resources that brainwash, manipulate, and control people to want to go to war, do. There are ulterior motives and secretive agendas unbeknownst to the masses.

The sooner people conquer their cognitive dissonance, the sooner they can crawl out of the proverbial cave.
