Music Videos on Youtube

without comments

You know, you can watch probably any music video or concert footage ever recorded on Youtube, and it’s all free.  This is good, because the music video channels on cable TV don’t show music videos any more.  All you have to do is type the name of the song or the band you are looking for into Youtube and it will show you links to all the videos people have posted.

Some of these videos are actual productions that people have recorded from media, and some are nothing more than a still picture or slideshow and the track off a CD.  Still, this beats looking all over the net for a song you like.  There are free apps where you can save an mp3 file of the song to your computer from these Youtube videos.  Why would anyone need to do file sharing or bit torrent to get a song off the net when they are all posted on Youtube?

I just watched some concert footage of The Pogues doing If I Should Fall From Grace With God and it was the same track as I have on a CD with the film of the performance.  I don’t see why the music industry is going after Pirate Bay if all their songs are already posted on Youtube.  Maybe Youtube has better lawyers.  In any case, if you are looking for a song, even if it is something obscure like The Pretty Things doing LSD you may as well just head over to Youtube and type in your search.  This is not any late breaking news, just general information for anyone interested in listening to music on their computer and looking at obscure music videos that you will never find anywhere else.
